Fiercely independent was the motto when ERR REC started reeling out cassettes in 2015. Co-founders\/husband and wife team Gilles and Bolanile Mat\u00e9 wanted to combine good electronic music with timeless visuals, in a music label that creates limited edition pieces. The artists featured on the label all have one thing in common: analog synthesizers\u2014from the vintage to the contemporary, every machine under the sun.<\/p>\n
The combination of music and art was natural for the co-founders. Bolanile Mat\u00e9 coming from an art direction and branding background, wanted to create an identity for the label that hearkened back to \u2018Swiss Style,\u2019 with a sprinkling of Scandinavian minimalism. It is with this aesthetic in mind that she creates the album artwork, videos, and visual communications for each artist on the label. Gilles Mat\u00e9, who is himself a composer of music electronic (dabbing in all sounds retro futuristic), takes care of all things musical including, artist development, curating albums, and sometimes mastering music.<\/p>\n
The projects that ERR REC selects are unreleased projects of artists in tune with our passion for original subtractive synthesis. The released music includes: experimental electronic (drone, \u201cmusique concr\u00e9te,\u201d ambient), pop, library music and soundtracks. And though the music label has since started releasing vinyls along side cassettes, everything still is limited edition, stamped and numbered by hand. Thanks to a modest distribution, ERR REC is available online and in stores outside of France, and even, Japan.<\/p>\n

\u201cF\u00e9rocement Ind\u00e9pendant\u201d \u00e9tait le mot d’ordre lorsque ERR REC sortit ses premi\u00e8res cassettes en 2015. Ses co-fondateurs, Bolanile & Gilles Mat\u00e9, en couple \u00e0 la ville comme \u00e0 l’underground, voulaient combiner de la musique \u00e9lectronique non format\u00e9e avec des visuels intemporels. Les artistes pr\u00e9sents sur le label ayant ont une chose en commun: l’utilisation dans leur musique de synth\u00e9tiseurs analogiques vintage ou modernes, c\u00e2ble conducteur de toutes les sorties.
Cette combinaison fut une \u00e9vidence pour le duo: Bolanile, directrice artistique sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans l’identit\u00e9 visuelle d\u00e9veloppe l\u2019identit\u00e9 du label: une esth\u00e9tique moderniste infus\u00e9e de style suisse et saupoudr\u00e9e de minimalisme scandinave. Elle cr\u00e9e les artworks des albums, les vid\u00e9os et tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments de communication pour chaque artiste du label.
Les projets s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s par ERR REC sont des albums in\u00e9dits par des artistes en phase avec sa passion pour la synth\u00e8se soustractive et additive originelle. Gilles Mat\u00e9, lui -m\u00eame compositeur de musique \u00e9lectronique r\u00e9tro-futuriste, est curateur du contenu musical, en charge du d\u00e9veloppement et parfois du mastering des albums.
Le label a depuis \u00e9galement publi\u00e9 des albums en format vinyle, consistant dans son amour inconditionnel des supports analogiques. Toutes les sorties restent cependant des \u00e9ditions limit\u00e9es, tamponn\u00e9es et num\u00e9rot\u00e9es \u00e0 la main. Elles b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient d’une modeste distribution physique outre manche et au Japon.<\/p>\n
